Maurice Pierre moved to Canada in 1976 to pursue a career in music, literature and Hotel Management, from the French/Creole Island of Saint Lucia.
His first enrollment in education was at a private school under the guidance and tutelage of a Miss Margaret, a fabulous educator in the village, now the town of Laborie on the island of Saint Lucia. Maurice’s grandmother, the memorable and affectionate Julianise Pierre initiated his enrollment in private education, which shaped his incredible curiosity in all things.
Maurice’s next enrollment was at The Grande Riviere R.C Combined School in the community of Grande Riviere-Gros-Islet, Saint Lucia.
The school’s principal was the incomparable and brilliant Matha Pierre, who touched the lives of students everywhere she taught from public schools to colleges and universities, throughout her glorious career as an educator.
Maurice’s literary interest was inspired by this extraordinary educator, Martha Pierre.
In fact, Martha Pierre also initiated Maurice’sappointment to the Royal St. Lucia Police Band, after the orchestra performed a public concert at his school. Maurice was smitten by the band’s performance, and all its Pomp & Circumstance which left an indelible impression on his young mind. Maurice’s mother, Mary (Nellianne Bonaire) Pierre’s overwhelming enthusiasm sealed the deal.
Maurice was enrolled at this prestigious organization and spent many years learning music and discipline. All of this became possible due to the Barbadian born, a great genius and Bandmaster, “Randolph Beckles” An absolute perfectionist was Beckles, who carefully drilled the craft of music into Maurice’s psyche and left an everlasting influence of perfectionism that shaped his way forward.

“You were a Monarch butterfly, whose wings were clipped, before you learned to fly”
